Gram Purush
Gram Purush is generally accepted as the Kshetrapal of the Temple. The Vade Panchami festival is a Deva karya for the Gram Purush.
It is believed that Shri Subbaraya Sharma the Purohit of the Bhagavati Temple who allowed our people from Nagve, who brought the idol of Shri Lakshminarayana and two coconuts representing Shri Mahamaya, to stay in the Bhagavathi Temple premises, is interred there. After his death the temple came under the control of Lakshminarayana Mahamaya Temple. The Mokhtesars opined that a dead man’s tomb cannot exist in the Temple complex. Therefore, it was converted into Gram Purush Temple. The structure of the temple was rebuilt sometime in the late 19th century to facilitate the easy movement of the Rath and The Palki during the festivals.
The present structure was constructed in AD 2008. Copper plating of roof was done and a gold plated Shikhara was installed.
Aarti is offered to Gram Purush on all days after the night Mangalarati except on the Ekadashi day.
This temple is right behind the main Temple.
